MBT’s This ‘n That Quilt Shop provides a unique service to the quilting and sewing community. Started in 2008, MBT’s This ‘n That began by buying their first crafting/sewing estate and have bought many estates since then to stock shelves. They have also helped Quilt Shops that have had to close by giving them a place to sell their remaining inventory.
Does this sound familiar: Families had to throw out Mom’s or Grandma’s “stash” because they didn’t know what to do with all that fabric! Well, that became where MBT’s intervention has come in for the last 16 plus years. They buy the stash and whatever supplies there are and “recycle” them through the shop. It’s hard telling how much fabric they’ve saved from the dump or the burn pile in all these years.
Staff at MBT’s This ‘n That hope to keep doing this service for a number of years – of finding more estates and helping more shops that are forced to close and making sure the quilting community has access to all the beautiful fabric and it doesn’t end up in the local dump.
Have trailer will travel!! MBT’s has gone to Iowa, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Missouri, Pennsylvania and up and down Illinois to rescue fabric. In Iowa, in a one year period, they picked up 1700 bolts of fabric from one shop and 900 from another – both shops had to close for health reasons.
Spread the word! Help MBT’s rescue the estates and inform shops that have to close that they’re available to help. Stores and estates can reach out:
